Delicate Nature

Artist's Statement:

“Delicate Nature” is inspired by the native wildflowers of Haliburton County. The installation is a micro-garden of warm yellow Black-eyed Susans, bright purple Fireweed, and soft pink Common Milkweed. We were drawn to these plants for the fragility of their flowers yet heartiness to survive the adverse conditions of the Canadian Shield. The delicate blooms pair with the permanence of glass as a historical medium yet fragile object. “Delicate Nature” celebrates these important native plants through a medium that can capture the light and colour of these flowers.
